Memos

Now that we know the placement of the keys on the keyboard, let’s look at a memo.

Memo is short for memorandum. A memo or memorandum is a short written message usually used in businesses or within an organization to relay information to someone. Memos are sent when emails and text messages are not acceptable. Most memos do not need to be signed.

A memo contains standard information such as TO: (who the memo is intended for), FROM: (who is sending the memo), DATE: (today’s date), and SUBJECT: (what the memo is about).

Letters

Letters are different than memos. Letters are more detailed and are addressed to a specific person or organization.

The format of a business letter is as follows:

There are two types of business letters, personal-business and just a regular business letter. The margins in both letter styles are 2” for the top and 1” for the right and left sides and the bottom of the page. Business letters contain different parts such as the return address, date, letter address, salutation, body, complimentary close, and the name of the writer.

The return address is placed at the top margin; the date is located right under it. The letter address is 4 line spaces below the date. The Salutation is 2 line spaces below the letter address. After the salutation is the body or message of the letter which is 2 line spaces below the salutation. Once you have completed the message of the letter, the complimentary close is next with 2 line spaces in between. Next is the name of the person who wrote the letter and that is  placed 4 line spaces under the complimentary close.

iPads

iPads are a big hit in today's society. The iPad is used for many different things such as playing games, education, and looking up information. The iPad is like a computer but it doesn't have all the capabilities of a computer. With the way technology is advancing I am expecting the iPad to become just as functional as a computer.

The iPad is gaining momentum in the classroom everyday. There are many ways educators can incorporate the iPad into their lessons. One of the ways that iPads can be used in the classroom is having the textbook online/electronic textbooks. Teachers can also use the iPad to enhance learning by having students play educational games. This way kids are learning and having fun in the process. Students can take virtual field trips and interact with students around the world. The iPad is a good education tool that is good for the classroom.

One way that I can incorporate the iPad in my classroom would have the students to practice their typing skills with a game called Word Drop which is a free app found on the iPad. It will enable students to become better typist.
